If this is your first manual therapy session you’ll want to know exactly what to expect. We’ve broken it down for you, just so there are no surprises.
Arrival
It’s a good idea to be ready 15-20 minutes before your scheduled mobile appointment time to prepare yourself into the treatment space, or carefully fill out any forms and complete your assessment.
It is recommended to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water while avoiding the ingestion mind-altering substances (such as stimulants, depressants, pain killers, alcohol, caffeine, smoking or the ingestion of drugs or heavy meals) prior to your appointment.
Avoid perfume, cologne or other scents on the day of your appointment.
Getting Prepped
Once all completed forms are filled, your therapist will discuss your health history form and treatment preferences with you. Soon after once consented, the assessment will take place and afterwards our therapist will also discuss your assessment results and treatment plan before obtaining your consent to begin.
Treatment Preference
The therapist will then leave the treatment space to allow you to adjust your clothing to your comfort level if necessary. However, you may receive an effective, therapeutic treatment regardless of how much clothing you choose to wear. Your comfort and ability to relax is a top priority for us. It is recommended to leave on your undergarments. If you choose to be fully clothed, please wear loose fitting clothing (like basketball shorts, sweatpants and a t-shirt) so that your movement will not be restricted during your assessment or treatment. For table-based draped treatment, you may lay between the two sheets provided and wait for our therapist to ask permission to re-enter the treatment space.
Therapeutic Treatment
You may remain clothed or unclothed under the fresh sheets on the padded table throughout the treatment. Our therapist is trained to ensure the sheet on the table always covers you and protects your privacy. Only the body part being worked on will be uncovered and distinct boundaries will be made.
Our therapist will periodically check in whether the technique or pressure is suitable for you. Please feel free to initiate any questions and/or concerns, as well as to communicate with your therapist about any treatment preferences or modifications at any time. There will be calming music played, unless preferred otherwise.
Treatment Conclusion
You may stop or modify treatment at any time, otherwise your therapist will let you know when the treatment is complete and will leave the treatment space. Our therapist will then provide a re-assessment, to check for any signs and symptoms of change and will make adjustments to the treatment plan if necessary. Home-care exercises will be prescribed, demonstrated, instructed and examined. A suggested follow up appointment will be discussed along with your recommended treatment plan. Feel free to ask your therapist any questions you may have at this point. She will then provide you to our website to book your next visit.
